Remember the term emoticon? Good times.
The biggest flaw with emojis, is that they often don’t convey the same emotion/vibe that the emoticons they’re based on do. My best example is:
More often than not, emoticons convey what I’m trying to express better than emojis (except for , there’s not a good emoticon parallel to that)
That’s definitely just me though - I’m sure plenty of people relate better to emojis.
All that to say: I agree - Auto-converting emoticons to emojis is one of the most annoying things a service can do, as they implicit alter what you’re trying to express. There should be an option to turn it off.
What about kaomoji?
