Styled byte QR Generator

Hi! I made a QR code generator that links directly to your account in the byte app. The colors of the code also match your account colors. To use it, just go to “https://byte-qr.herokuapp.com/followed by your byte username. The generated code also has a ~30% recovery rate, so you can put an image in the middle without messing up the link. If you try it out, please let me know what you think. Thank you.

I recommend making some kind of page at the root, allowing people to put in their username. (Which will do the same thing you asked about anyway).

It’s way better than showing an error in the browser.

I was working on that, but I was so excited I got the image to load right and forgot about it. :sob: I’ll try to push an update by Friday night.

This is really cool! It would be great if you could make it a little more stylized (the matching profile colors is already super dope)

It would be really cool if you just added a circle to make it match the logo. The circle wouldn’t contain any data, it would just be stylistic

In a mockup made in Photoshop, I actually did get that to work, but I’m still learning and not too sure how to mask and draw shapes. test

@dom can we get the byte camera to scan qr codes starting with byte.co? Like how the iOS camera does

wow this is really cool.

you can actually make each grid block in the QR a circle (like imagine putting a circular mask over each part of the grid) and it’ll still work

some people think these look cleaner

They are actually because they are more visually appealing! Plus I already put up a few of my byte profile QR’s around my local grocery stores so a byte QR feature would be cool! haha :joy_cat:

for me, a big issue issue with the codes is that if the scanner doesn’t have the byte app the code becomes useless with no indication you need byte. this is because it uses byte:// links instead of byte.co to load directly in the app. i really like the byte:// links because they never change, while a byte.co link changes with your username.

Woah I had no idea byte:// urls existed!
I don’t think I’ve seen a url prefix other than http, https, or ftp. That’s so cool

I made this concept bytecode and I was wondering if it’s possible to add in the bio and such next to the code. Would this design work?
