Stand-up comedy

Just wondering. Anyone here does stand-up? From small open mics to hosting gigs. Would love to exchange some skills/techniques/structuring

I cant help you here but my advice is to watch stand up comedians (Russell Howard is great) and evaluate how they engage audiences, and what types of humour they specialise in (political, sitcom)

Also, Russell can help you with structure, he does a range of topics

What does that mean?

on the spot comedy. You have to make it up as you go along, you don’t have a script to read off of, etc… It happens in the moment basically.

Stand up comedy is not made up as you go along. That’s improv. Stand up comedy is typically a rehearsed set.

I dabble in it

Stand up comedy is scripted, however there is a lot of improv involved since the comedian is interacting with the audience a lot.
