One of the things I’ve noticed, and one of the things we offer that tiktok hasn’t, is not only acknowledgement, but active acceptance and encouragement of LGBTQ+ creators. I think that might be part of the key to keeping the hype up- making people feel genuinely accepted for who they are, instead of being accepted DESPITE of who they are. Does that make sense?
There is a brand new LGBTQ+ category added just today. So that’s something
Some old categories made a reappearance as well
That’s what prompted this.
I know that an awful lot of gay creators on tiktok felt shadow banned and silenced, and some of them have been bullied on the app.
Homophobia has no place on this app. Point blank periodt.
I honestly think that the LGBTQ+ category on byte is a pretty cool n good idea. I know a lot of friends who are bi, pan, trans, gay, and such, and this, is a great idea, as a straight ally myself. I’d like to thank Dom (or anyone on the Byte dev team), to bring this to light.
