Dec 9th, 2019 for the me of Dec 9th, 2020
To the future expert.amateur (should you still be called that username):
I’m not usually referred to by that name now lol. I go by AlecD on Byte, and A13C on most other socials However the Byte app credits me as expert.amateur, and I still have that account.
It’s kinda odd talking to myself,
Same bro same.
but I’m here to give ya some things to remember:
Alrighty. I’ll try to listen.
1. Happiness is not measured in the number of likes you have on “x” post; it’s measured on what you enjoy doing.
This is honestly something I still struggle with. I tend to be very critical of the numbers when what I should focus on is enjoying myself. I will try to keep that in mind
You’ll never be famous,
WOW Mr. Downer alrighty then
so you’d better still be doing the most important thing that matters to you, and focusing on whatever followers or friends you have.
Family has always continued to be something important in my life. While I don’t have many friends IRL, I’ve come to know people on Byte and Discord. People that will listen to me rant about stupid things and actually care!
Which reminds me:
2. Call your friends more often so that you still have some by the time 2021 me comes around,
Yeah I hate to break this to you…but your best friend left you in 2020. He will have worsening emotional health problems, so nothing he says will be his fault, but I wanted to give you strength to deal with that. Talk to people and don’t isolate yourself from others. I’m here for you and know what you’re going through
and play with your dog lots (I hope he’s still there). If not, my condolences.
He’s alive and well! He found a tennis ball frozen in the snow the other day, and he tried to get it out but he couldn’t ! Poor thing. Fortunately there’s plenty more tennis balls for him!
Your sister will be graduated and moved out by now. Do you still talk to her? She’s a bit of an introvert I know, but deep down she loves ya. Tell her I said hi.
I told her past me (or you) said hi. She says don’t worry, you and her get along fine in the future, and stop stealing her cookies.
Try not to dought yourself so much. You’ve got potential, and assuming the identity of a weirdo or a failure will only cause others to view you that way. True ya make mistakes, but so does everyone else.
I’m still hard on myself, but I no longer feel like a weirdo. So good job past me. And yes I still make mistakes, but like you said: everyone does.
Do you still live in your hometown?
Not quite. A fire destroyed half of it, so you had to go move in with your parents somewhere else. Fortunately nobody got hurt.
Is the fabled power-plant actually open?
Nope. Fire. Town. Destroyed. Yeah
What about your figure-skating? Have you finally passed freeskate, potentially bronze? You’ve been working on your solos tons I bet. Remember to stretch, or you’ll feel like you’re about to die
Good news! You still feel like you’re about to die. Yes you passed bronze, but COVID has kind of prevented a lot of your progress past that point. You totally didn’t do a split in mid-air and stick an incredible landing you thought you’d be going to the hospital for and everyone clapped.
like the wimp i am
like the stubborn person i am
I play everyday
and wear orange socks
