A few web interface issues

Byte rolled out view links recently. It’s nice to see that these suggestions Few issues with Byte share links have been implemented (although right clicks are now disabled almost completely). The new design for viewing Bytes is very similar to the one I proposed here https://md28.in/byte/demo/post/516500 although I think that the original design with the information laid over the video was better in terms of simplicity before a whole web interface is implemented (comments would go below the info in the design I proposed).

Byte loading has improved overall which is a very good sign. Guessing @dom saw this.

There’s a slight issue with avatars not loading until a page is refreshed…
NoLoad

It may also be useful for there to be a back button when videos are reached through a user’s profile for it to feel more like a web app than a series of disjointed pages (I’m aware this is a work in progress but a simple onclick="goBack()" that’s shown only when the headers sent via the previous page match that user could be useful in the short term. Byte’s forums won’t allow a screen recording upload so I’ve hosted the screen recording here https://md28.in/v/4qmi6sh8.

There’s also a minor issue on mobile where the shade for post info isn’t always stuck to the bottom of the viewport so when a user scrolls the shade remains fixed rather than sticky…

This is me being picky but maybe assign the link to the image and not outside of its borders…

The new 404 & Error pages are useful vs the ones Nginx/Google Frontend put out. The favicon in the root of byte.co needs to be updated to the new logo though…

Happy to lend a free hand wherever it can be useful
